Subject: Recurrent Pathological Humerus Fracture

This 12 yr old boy was treated by me in May 2002 for pathological fracture right humerus conservatively. Curettage and bone grafting was suggested but parents were not willing. Xrays taken on 6th July 2002 shows the fracture united. He was protected by an Alkathin Brace for the Right Arm.

On 6th September 2003, he sustained refracture due to trivial trauma while he was not using the brace and X rays taken this time are also attached. Now that the lesion has migrated to the centre with growth and looks ?less in size compared to 2 years ago, should I advise curettage and bone grafting now? My clinical diagnosis is fibrous dyslasia. In case surgery is advised, do it immediately or wait for the fracture to get sticky.
